James O'Callaghan
About the Therapist
My name is James (he/him). I seek to provide a reflective space where you can feel supported, safe, and accepted without judgement. Therapy can help you uncover patterns that might be holding you back and also allow you to explore ways you can move forward.
I offer sessions in person in Queen’s Park, NW6 and online with clients throughout the UK/internationally. My room in Queen’s Park is a 5 minute walk from Queen's Park station (Bakerloo/Lioness) and a 10 minute walk from Brondesbury Park station (Mildmay). The rooms are wheelchair accessible.
I hold a Diploma in Integrative Counselling from the Minster Centre, which was accredited by the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I previously volunteered with ELOP, a charity offering therapy by and for LGBTQIA+ people.

We will work together at your own pace to explore what brought you to therapy and to explore the changes you want in your life.
I believe the relationship between client and therapist is the most important part of therapy. That means I am not only interested in the story you bring, but also in how it feels to share it with me. Working together we will pay attention to your experiences, your relationships, and the way you see yourself and the world. As time goes on, we may notice patterns that keep repeating in your life, or ways you’ve learned to hide or protect yourself.
I also pay attention to how emotions are carried in the body. That can be tension, restlessness, or often a lack of feeling. Change can begin not just with words but with noticing what the body is holding. I see every person as an individual with their own unique story, and I will adapt my way of working to what feels right for you.
Therapy can be a place to get to know yourself in new ways, and to find gentler, freer ways of being with yourself. That might mean easing feelings of anxiety or depression, working through past experiences, improving relationships, or simply having more space to breathe and be yourself.
As a queer therapist, I bring a particular awareness of how identity, belonging, and societal pressures can shape us. This is a space where you don’t need to leave parts of yourself at the door, where all of you is welcome.
I offer sessions online and in person in Queen’s Park. The room is a 5 minute walk from Queen's Park station (Bakerloo/Lioness) and a 10-minute walk from Brondesbury Park station (Mildmay). The rooms are wheelchair accessible.
