Luís Carrasqueiro
About the Therapist
I'm Luís Carrasqueiro (he/him), a white European, cis gay man. I've worked with and within LGBTQIA+ and indigenous communities, and these experiences are part of my own story, informing how I work — including with people from other identities and backgrounds.
I'm a qualified integrative therapist and counsellor. I completed a BACP-accredited Diploma in Integrative Counselling and am currently in year two of a UKCP-accredited Master's degree in Integrative Psychotherapy and Counselling at the Minster Centre, London — one of Europe's leading training institutions.
If you’re feeling hesitant about reaching out, that’s completely normal. Whatever brings you here – anxiety, depression, a life transition, your identity, relationships, the world feeling harder than it should, or something else – we’ll explore it together.
I work relationally, and I invite you to bring all parts of yourself to therapy. With empathy and care, we make space to understand what's hurting or not working, while also paying attention to what feels good and is working.
Before training in therapy, I spent 30 years in senior roles across charities, industry, government and academia, where I developed a sharp appreciation for the pressures and transitions related to work. These experiences also deepened my cultural awareness and my ability to listen closely to people from different backgrounds.
I offer therapy in English and Portuguese (all variants), and can bring Spanish and te reo Māori, with some understanding of French and Italian into sessions where helpful.

My approach is relational and humanistic: I don't act as an expert on you, but as a partner in a shared process of understanding, at your pace.
I draw from and integrate several psychotherapy traditions, with a foundation in relational psychotherapy, attachment theory, and body psychotherapy – approaches that see emotional struggles not as "defects," but as patterns formed through past and present relationships, and recognise that body and mind are not separate.
I hold in mind the wider social and political forces that shape us, and I'm committed to anti-oppressive practice – noticing dynamics of power both in the world and in the therapy room. My specialist training includes grief and bereavement, trauma, domestic abuse, childhood sexual abuse, body psychotherapy, short-term therapy, disability and ableism, neurodiversity, severe presentations, LGBTQIA+ and gender, sexual and relationship diversity (GSRD), race, and intersectionality.
I work only one-to-one with adults.
