Zalfa Stevenson
About the Therapist
Hello, I am Zalfa, a Counselling Psychologist. At the heart of my work, I strive to create a warm and empathetic space for individuals from all walks of life. I support clients facing a variety of challenges, including self-esteem issues, anxiety, relationship difficulties, and low mood. Additionally, I have substantial experience working with complex mental health difficulties such as complex trauma, substance misuse, and gender-based violence. My work within the NHS and various third-sector organisations have particularly centred on supporting the LGBTQI+ community and individuals affected by gendered violence. I am registered with the HCPC and BPS. Â
As a Lebanese-British psychologist fluent in Arabic and French, my multicultural background enriches my practice, though my primary working language is English. Being a part of the LGBTQI+ community myself, I am also deeply committed to fostering an inclusive and affirming therapeutic environment. My lived experiences have cultivated a particular interest in holistic therapeutic approaches, which consider all aspects of a person’s life to facilitate long-term positive change in a culturally sensitive and empowering way. My therapeutic approach is integrative, drawing from multiple modalities to meet each client's unique needs. These include psychodynamic therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), person-centred therapy, systemic therapy, compassion-focused therapy, and trauma-informed approaches. Whether you're facing specific issues or more ambiguous feelings, therapy can be a valuable tool for understanding current patterns, developing coping skills to manage difficult emotions, and nurturing our inherent strengths.
