Hello I’m Alex, a qualified person-centred therapeutic counsellor, registered with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy. I have a great deal of therapeutic experience working with LGBTQ+ clients including with relationships, anxiety, addiction, identity, family issues and dynamics, gender. I have over 40 years experience of providing  psychodynamic psychotherapy within the NHS, private practice and the criminal justice system. During this time, I have worked with people to improve their quality of life by overcoming emotional and psychological difficulties particularly in relation to anxiety, depression and sexuality. In addition, I have considerable experience of assisting individuals with challenging issues relating to chemsex, pornography, involvement in the adult industries, problematic sexual behaviour, religious trauma, PTSD, moral injury and offending behaviour. My name is Broes (pronounced Bruce) Van Renterghem and I offer psychotherapeutic counselling in my practices in London Bridge, Clapham Common, Shoreditch, and online. I provide a supportive and reflective space for people to explore the parts of their life which causes them pain or dissatisfaction. Through exploration I help people connect to the ignored and hidden parts of themselves, helping them bring change into their life. Being a psychodynamic psychotherapist means I am interested in unconscious patterns and communication. For me this extends to thinking about the unconscious messages we receive from family and society, as people from marginalised sexual and gender groups, and exploring our social identities, whether that be race, gender, religion or culture.
