Sometimes we might feel that things are just getting too much, or we want to look at something specific which is bothering us. Since the corona crisis we needed to adapt to a new “normal”. Feeling overwhelmed, frustrated, anxious, worn out, depressed and stressed are just some of the many ways we might react to what is happening around us and within us. Looking for help is not a sign of defeat, not now and not ever.

What would you like to talk about today? It’s a common enough starting point in counselling sessions, but it is rarely a question with an easy answer. I offer sessions at Brixton, London Bridge and via Google Meet, offering short-term and long-term counselling, and offer a free half-hour initial appointment.

I am a counsellor working from rooms in Holborn/Chancery Lane and Hackney. I also provide counselling online. The largest part of my work is with Queer / LGBTQ+ clients, and I have previously worked with two LGBTQ+ organisations (Switchboard and East London Out Project). I have had additional specialist training from Gendered Intelligence and Pink Therapy. My core training is in humanistic counselling so I am trained in a range of approaches, but primarily practice using gestalt therapy. I am committed to a trans-affirming, queer-affirming, anti-racist approach.

I’m Lou, a queer MNCPS Accredited therapist working with adults of all sexual and gender identities, and with both mainstream and more alternative lifestyles and beliefs. I have been working with LGBTQ+ clients for 13 years and have supported clients with a variety of issues, especially around identity and gaining deeper self-knowledge, around marginalisation and navigating life in a heteronormative capitalist society, and also on major life changes and emotional literacy.
