Kate Kingsford - online therapy
About the Therapist
Hi, I'm Kate.
My counselling style is integrative, drawing on a range of psychotherapeutic approaches to create one that's tailor-made to suit you. Through therapy, you can work through layers of loss and identify the defensive strategies that once helped you survive, moving beyond them as you learn to negotiate change and flourish in the here and now.
In our first session, we'll talk about what you're struggling with, what you want from therapy, and how we might approach that.
I am LGBTQ+ affirmative and committed to actively challenging prejudice and discrimination. My practice offers a safe, inclusive space where clients can explore identity, desires, and choices without judgment. I work with LGBTQ+, trans, and non-binary individuals, as well as those navigating non-traditional relational structures.
For those exploring non-monogamous relationships, I place the relationship itself at the centre of our work. Together, we look at how personal histories, social and cultural influences, and individual identities shape the way connections form and evolve. Each session is designed as a space for reflection, curiosity, and open dialogue.
I offer sessions online, and have a particular interest in working with transcultural issues - for example when issues related to culture come up in relationships, when you're a long-term traveller or digital nomad, for people who were third-culture children, or anyone who's experiencing challenges finding their place in the country they've moved to.

My approach is an integrative one; there’s no “one size fits all” when it comes to therapy, and I draw on a range of theories—particularly Transactional Analysis, IFS (Internal Family Systems), existential therapy, and a psychodynamic approach—to create a way of working that suits you.
I also bring a wide experience from my previous career in international development, journalism, and ethnography, and have lived and worked in Yemen, Tanzania, the DRC, Sudan, and the Netherlands.
