Hello, I’m Richard English (he/him), a gay psychotherapist based in Chancery Lane, Central London, and online. I can help with self-esteem, anxiety, depression, relationships, identity, sex and sexuality. More of the subjects I work with are listed in my profile. Nearest stations are Chancery Lane, City Thameslink, Farringdon, Holborn, Blackfriars, St Paul’s. I have a two-pronged approach: working to alleviate distress in the now, and looking to the past to explore its origins. I find that’s more effective for longer-term change.
CURRENTLY ONLY EMAIL SESSIONS AVAILABLE. I offer one-to-one online counselling sessions, using an integrative approach. Sessions can take place via phone, video, or email. Majority of my work revolves around identity and exploring who you are as a person in an affirming way, whether that’s within your ‘self’ (e.g. sexuality, gender, neurodiversity, mental health etc.) or who you are within your outside world (e.g. relationships, within your job, after losing someone close to you etc.) I have professional and lived experience in my areas of work. I work collaboratively with informed consent around the approaches/methods we use in sessions.

I particularly welcome inquiries from clients who may worry about judgement or misunderstanding, or who otherwise feel marginalised or under-served by the counselling profession. This includes people who embody gender, romantic and sexual diversity; people in non-monogamous relationships, who participate in BDSM, do any form of sex work, or who use psychoactive drugs. Although my orientation is heterosexual, I have lived in close community with LGBTQIA+ friends and family for many years

I work with people online and in person, and I regularly host free community music groups around Berlin.
In our work together, we’ll gently explore your feelings, needs, and personal narratives in a warm, non-judgmental space. There are no worksheets or homework here—just a collaborative process rooted in curiosity and understanding. Therapy isn’t about “fixing” you, but about helping you feel more at home in yourself. Maybe you’ve always felt different from those around you, or perhaps recent changes have left you questioning your place in the world.
