I provide a supportive and reflective space for people to explore the parts of their life which causes them pain or dissatisfaction. Through exploration I help people connect to the ignored and hidden parts of themselves, helping them bring change into their life. Being a psychodynamic psychotherapist means I am interested in unconscious patterns and communication. For me this extends to thinking about the unconscious messages we receive from family and society, as people from marginalised sexual and gender groups, and exploring our social identities, whether that be race, gender, religion or culture.

My name is Laurie May and I’m a non-binary counsellor and intimate partner therapist based in the UK. I identify as queer and genderfluid. ​ After starting my working life as an actor, I began my counselling journey over 30 years ago as a Samaritan volunteer and spent 10 years working as a Counselling Supervisor at ChildLine. I managed METRO charity’s LGBTQIA+ Counselling service for 11-25 year olds, as well as being responsible for covering the adult service.
