These are psychotherapists and counsellors. Although there is a separate category for sex- and sexuality-related practitioners, most therapists in this category will certainly discuss sexual issues, and many will work with them.
Looking for a therapist and starting therapy can feel overwhelming—especially if you’re already struggling. If life feels painful or uncertain right now, it can be hard to know where to turn or how to begin. If that’s the case, I’d like to help. I’m a Central London-based psychotherapist offering LGBTQ+ affirming therapy in person and online. With over two decades of experience supporting people through the emotional complexities of life, I provide a warm, confidential space to explore identity, relationships, and emotional challenges at your own pace.
My name is Jack Pijl and I was born in The Netherlands. I’ve lived in London since 2002 where I was able to come out as a gay man. I converted my career to become a psychotherapist to predominantly work with gay men to help them with the particular struggles this client group has. A great book by Walt Odets, ‘Out of the Shadows: the psychology of gay men’s lives’, made a great impression on me personally and professionally. I have been able to help many of my clients to make meaning of their often difficult journeys and stories.
Accepting new clients as space permits for weekday morning/afternoon appointments | Areas of specialty include low self-esteem, family of origin issues, childhood relational trauma, ADHD, difficulties with assertiveness, and exploration of sexual orientation and gender identity. I work frequently with individuals who identify with the LGBTQ+ and neurodivergent communities. My therapeutic approach is integrative, fundamentally humanistic, and tailored to the needs of each individual.
Hello, my name is Gareth, I am an experienced (BACP) British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy Accredited Counsellor and have been working in this field for over 10 years. I offer a calm and safe place for clients who are experiencing emotional issues and distress to talk about how they are feeling, and what is causing them concern. I use an integrative approach, which means I see everyone as unique, so the counselling techniques will be tailored to your needs and personal circumstances and will help you feel more resilient and able to manage current and future changes.
I view therapy as a guide that encourages you to explore what you may have missed or ignored. I work with clients by encouraging different aspects of their personalities to find their voice. I support clients in engaging with these forgotten parts of themselves, helping them express these aspects so they can be heard, understood, and validated in a non-judgmental space. I understand therapy as an invitation to have
I’m Livia, a person-centred counsellor and psychotherapist based in Wokingham, Berks. I see clients both in person and via video online.  I’ve been working with clients from the LGBTQI+ communities for over 10 years and have experience of many different people and the issues they bring that span the gender and sexuality spectrums, the kink community and various relationship styles and approaches. I am part of the community, so it is especially important for me to offer a safe, non-judgemental, affirming place within which to explore, learn about and support ourselves.
I’m Lauren, a Humanistic Psychotherapist and Counsellor offering online therapy to help you explore and process the challenges in your life, supporting you in making meaningful changes to live more fully and authentically. I am a trans-friendly and LGBT+ affirmative therapist with a special focus on gender, sexuality, and identity. I work in a warm, collaborative way, building a strong therapeutic relationship where you can feel safe to be yourself—both in therapy and in your wider life. Together, we create a space for reflection, growth, and lasting change.
My name is Matthew, I am a qualified integrative therapist working in-person in London, and online across the UK. My professional journey began in 2009 through completion of a certificate course in counselling skills and I have since graduated from a BSc (Hons) in Counselling, a degree accredited by the BACP where I am also a registered member. My dissertation project was about the psychotherapeutic experiences of men engaged in chemsex, an area of particular interest to me. I also have interest in the relationship between sexuality and religion, an area I hold developmental training for.
Queer people deserve queer therapists. Being LGBTQIA+ is an incredible gift, but it can also be immensely challenging. I know the power that therapy has to bring individual change. That can translate into the wellbeing of our community.
Race, gender, sexuality, culture and family history all affect our sense of self. If you are struggling with your identity, talking about things may help. As a result of my lived experience and training, I specialise in issues around identity and offer a safe space for you to explore what is getting in the way of you leading the life you want to lead. I offer an initial consultation session to talk about your hopes for therapy and to give you a chance to experience what sessions would be like with me.
