These are psychotherapists and counsellors. Although there is a separate category for sex- and sexuality-related practitioners, most therapists in this category will certainly discuss sexual issues, and many will work with them.
Empathetic, passionate individual offering private therapy sessions online and face to face in South Cumbria. Trans-femme, diagnosed dyspraxic, dislexic and autistic, self-diagnosed ADHD, passionate, vulnerable, highly sensitive introverted night owl. I’m a queer psychosexual and relationship therapist, clinical sexologist and mindfulness teacher working with individuals, couples/thruples, young people and groups. I work in private practice in central London, Peckham and online and am an associate therapist with the Thought House Partnership. I have a long-standing interest in queer issues and gender, sexual and relationship diversity, both as an academic and a clinician, and am passionate about helping LGBTQ+ people enjoy better mental health and more fulfilling sex and relationships.
I completed degrees in science and philosophy before qualifying as a counsellor, and I combine the analytic strength of these disciplines with the warmth of humanistic therapy.
If you are experiencing circumstances that are causing you to feel overwhelmed with stress, anxiety or depression, I would like to work with you in order to help you work though whatever is troubling you. Located in Kings Hill, Kent and at The Gestalt Centre near Kings Cross in London – I offer both in-person and online counselling.
A few months ago, were you thinking about starting therapy? A few months from now, will you still be thinking about starting therapy? Or instead, will you already be well on the path towards feeling more solid and centred in your life? Imagine what that could feel like. I believe passionately in de-mystifying therapy and showing up as my fully human self with you. I bring my empathy, humour, enthusiasm and sweary vocabulary to the connection – because I am a human first, therapist second. I am both real and relatable.
I am passionate about providing a culturally sensitive therapy space for diverse folk who fall outside of normative cisgender, heterosexual norms, as I do. I want therapy to be a space where you can explore your gender and sexual identities as much or as little as you need to, alongside any other issues and feelings that are drawing you to seek support.
Hi there, I’m Chris, a cis-gendered gay man and chartered psychologist. As a psychologist, I specialise in all kinds of anxiety (including OCD), depression, panic disorder, trauma, workplace stress, loneliness and disconnection. As a gay man, I have further insights into the impact of shame, internalised homophobia, attachment difficulties and relationship challenges. For many years I have been very engaged with the LGBTIQ+ community, and so have an appreciation of the unique problems and challenges faced in the community.
Sometimes we might feel that things are just getting too much, or we want to look at something specific which is bothering us. The corona crisis seems to have come to an end, yet it might still feel overwhelming for many people. Our regular way of life suddenly changed and we needed to adapt to the new “normal”. Feeling overwhelmed, frustrated, anxious, worn out, depressed and stressed are just some of the many ways we might react to what is happening around us and within us. Looking for help is not a sign of defeat, not now and not ever.
I see clients one-to-one in Bristol and online when they cannot travel here. My approach is emotion-focused and trauma-informed. I work in an embodied way to help clients understand and transform that which is contributing to their problem. I work psychodynamically, helping clients liberate themselves from the impact of negative past experiences or relationships. I provide affirmative support to gender, sexually and relationship diverse clients.
I am a non-binary, LGBTQ+ affirmative psychodynamic therapist. I am passionate about making informed, non-judgemental therapy accessible for trans and queer communities. The way that I work focuses on the connections between our past and present relationships and experiences. By exploring how we have become stuck in unhelpful patterns, psychodynamic therapy can help us to recover a sense of choice and freedom in the way that we move through the world and relate to others. My approach also takes account of the importance of identity and cultural background in shaping our experience, and the intersections of oppression and mental health.
