Soma = the body. Somatic therapy is a bottom-up approach and often works well in place of traditional talking therapies, particularly for those of us who find it more challenging to put emotions into words. As a trauma trained somatic care worker, I include a blend of coaching and counselling to provide a human, relational and body-led approach to healing. For many years, I didn’t believe in therapy. I thought friends and family could support us through difficulties and didn’t see the need for professional therapists.   But my views changed when a close friend went through a very painful period in their life and had counselling.
